Badbeats badbeats

August 25th, 2008 by diprogan

Played five sit n go’s this morning, results:

KK got busted by A3 catching A
AA got <beep>ed by KK catching K
KK got mooed at by 97 catching 77
95 two paired got outdrawn by 63s catching flush
…and in the last one i was down to 200 chips after comming allin on the flop earlier on with KQ-K23 vs a guy with TT . Ofcourse he catched T on the turn… however i managed to work my way up to second place in that one after all. Some bandaid to the losses!

EDIT: I spent the evening playing a $26 deepstack MTT and it was fun once again but geez it’s so unworthy when you don’t reach the final table. I could have spent 30 minutes winning a 6man to get better money than ending up #33 in a 706 man and get $59. I had incredible luck quite a few times and was considering for a while if all the badbeats had piled up to hand me a realy lucky tourney instead. With 45 players left I was #2 but a lowstack catching a better pocket and losing QQ against an AK bigstack was pretty much all it took. So in the end I spent 4 some hours to earn those measly $33 extra bucks. Sigh…

$75 MTT

August 24th, 2008 by diprogan

Went into the hot zone again today joining a $75 441 player deepstack 6man table MTT. Good excitement. Was #2 at some point and had a stack of 19.000 but I don’t know what happened realy. Took a few small losses and blinds kept eating. In the end when the bubble finaly bursted I decided to take on a guy that had stolen way too many blinds. That one time he had catched AA and I went out at the very first money spot #54. $136 (minus buyin) is not a lot percentagewise but quite alright moneywise.

My bankroll is back up where it was before my big crash. Time to go plus again!

Playing poker is a real big drainer of psychological energy. There have been times I have had doubts in wether poker was the actual reason for me getting so fatigued and generaly tired at times but i am sure now. After this MTT my head is feeling all kinds of heavy and used up so i think it’s sleeping time for me.

Rakeback

August 22nd, 2008 by diprogan

Happy day, my rakeback site finaly paid out my rakeback a couple days later than promised. $113 not too shabby. Having decent days but i keep ending up on the bubble in the MTT’s so it could been alooot better.

Rig-yappin’ and casino rants

August 18th, 2008 by diprogan

Seriously there’s so many badbeats happening around me at this time and mostly at FT. Not only against me but in my favour too and for other people as well. The flop just NEVER holds up no mater the odds. I’m seriously considering spending a day or two observing tables and counting odds versus result cause this is rubbbish. Constant crap odds cards coming out of everywhere in nonfavourable flops. It’s like they rigged it for excitement. No use showing off examples, you know the deal 5,4,3,2 and 1 outers.

Was at the Casino in Gothenburg yesterday and it looked good until I came allin on the flop with AA versus AQs on a Jack high flushdraw board. He hit the flush ofcourse and I lost a pot for $1000. Made the whole night suck moneywise and otherwise. Getting up to school 3 hours after going to sleep wasn’t too nice either but that’s another story.

High stakes ftw

August 13th, 2008 by diprogan

I don’t know what it is about high stakes (well all is relative) but i seem to win more in games with higher buyins. More or less my only profit today came from a $33 6man but it was enough to go plus. I’m almost taking for granted Full Tilt will feed me a number of badbeats much larger than the percentage they represent nowadays but it was kind of bad today too. Was 2 outed 3 times. Well it’s a new day with new chances tomorrow!

Finaly

August 11th, 2008 by diprogan

Finaly had a decent day profitwise unless I manage to screw it up in the evening. I’m considering if I should play more cashgames, might be easier with more fish going for cashgames first etc.

In other news i’m trying to improve my blindstealing. Weighing the number of times to go out of line to get the extra edge. Getting there i think.

Pokerstars

August 10th, 2008 by diprogan

Started playing at pokerstars today. The people at the irc channel #poker@Efnet had a little private tourney mostly for bragin rights i suppose. Ended up 5 or 6 out of 8 but it was alright. Also entered a $11 Nordic mtt that was granted for making a deposit (though I had to mail support twice to actualy make it so) and ended up in the lower range of in the money after a badbeat from AT v J5 (the J5 guy called preflop allin for a whole lot more than he should have).

The last week have been quite bad. There’s seemingly no end to the badbeats. I get all sorts. KK v AK, KK v K7, A9 v 98. It’s like full tilt want the hands to get exciting, the flop never holding up. I know how it sounds but it’s a month without any increase in the bankroll now. What happened? 15 days of constant wins then just nothing? Weird. A friend talks about variance and how he’s gonna share roll with a friend to easen the swings. I don’t know, I like to hold my own. Would be sweet though to just let someoene else do the work every now and then.

As it is now there sure isn’t any signs of me going pro. I’m going to school, like it or not.

More water under the bridges.

Doing rounds on partypoker today. They have some birthday week where you get entrance into a $7.777 freeroll if you gather 77p this week so i thought i would spend some time with that. Main thing today was a $33 rebuy MTT. Gosh, do they take time and effort or what… it is funny though when you start getting deep :) Unfortunately i fell somewhat short of the $4100 first prize or any of the other 19 prizes and ended up at place 46 out of 167 on a coinflip. No particular bad luck in it but nothing good either. I also against better judgement played headsup on pp. Met a total muppet who allined about 30% of all hands. Got him eventualy. Migth have to investigate the strength of headsupers on pp in spite of the nutty rake.

EDIT: MTT’s is the fun stuff. While I was waiting for 11 tables to finish in my shootout tourney a friend ended second in a deepstack tourney with 1300 entrants for a realy sweet $4600. Congrats Jompe. I managed to pull off a third place on the second table (won first) before moving on to the third table as a lowstack. Nothing much happened before a three way scare hand with my JJ vs QQ vs AKs that came out split from a full board straight. It’s kinda dull how MTT’s most times degenerate into preflop allin plays but anyway… one of the bigstacks liked to raise weird amounts between 2bb and 3bb to steal and tried me from the small blind. I called with J9s board came 589. Bigstack guy made a medium bet i went allin and ofcourse he hit is two rags 8’s and 5’s. The right play in hind sight would have been reraise preflop as since I believed him to be stealing was the reason I called in the first place but I had to raise allin to reraise and that felt hard with just J9s but yeah I should have. Anyway I ended 4th on that table which did not feel very good at all but at least the tourney was a +$57 deal. Next time Gadget, next time…

Muppet hands

August 4th, 2008 by diprogan

Day started well with my ducks getting a slowplaying AA’s money but then it went downhill. I’m so tired of people calling large raises with junk and catching their muppet stuff. My AA went down to K4 and another guy called 8bb with K5s, hit a 5 and called my JJ allin and catched both K and flush. Another AA went down to T9. A board of QJ88 two spades where i got K8, guy goes allin with 79s and ofcourse he catches the flush. Sigh i’m getting so tired. How many badbeats can there be?

EDIT: Placed #14 in a 459 player $11 buyin tourney. Right now i’m kinda disappointed, the difference in money is so huge towards the end. The $41 win is nothing. I juggle a lot more than that each day but oh well. I was very close to going out on the very bubble. I had AJ on a 5AAK board and called an allin from A5… but king came off splitting it. Same guy 2 outed me earlier with AAv77 so i didn’t feel too bad.

MTT day

August 3rd, 2008 by diprogan

I bought myself a $26 token today with my Iron Man medals and went hunting for a 24+2 tourney. Found a 11.5k guaranteed deepstack MTT that became 14k with 600 entrants. Had position 10 at some point and stayed well above average most of the game but towards the end i got no cards and blinds began to seriously eat me. Only had one or two hard decisions where i decided tight. Right or not I reached the top54 money after 2½ hours or so and went allin some time later with A9 but KJ got me rivered. I could realy gone for the 1st prize of $3500 instead of the puny $42 I got for 46th. Would have been good ROI etc. but yeah a cash is a cash. Loved the deepstack setup. Players want to play.

Simultaneously with this tourney I played Partypokers $5k Queen level freeroll. A whoppin 8000 in that one. Took 10 full minutes for it to just start and 14 minutes for me to go away. I got QdJc on a QT9 all club flop so there was no question about going allin unfortunately the AdKc guy I went up against catched an ace so that was it (I had 57% to win that hand if you wondered).

Lately at least before today it has been quite boring pokerwise. No big wins. Bankroll mostly stays stompin and some days it’s at risk at going downhill but often gets saved later in he day. It’s difficult to decide wether it was my playing that made me go so well for 15 days straight or just luck. I still imagine some difference when I’m focused but who knows. Just have to keep playing my best.

Oh yes a funny little sidestory. I played irl yesterday. A few quick ones with friends before me and my brother had to catch the last buss home. Two normal headsups where i dominated but only won one and then we went crazy and did two allin in the dark four way hands for aprox buyin $3.3 (20sek) each :P The same friend won both and not only that, he won a third one that was headsup. Lucky sob :)
